Spring is a time for renewal, of new life, of optimism and the world waking up once more from the depths of winter. It’s a great time of year to get married and one of our busiest times of the year. If you’re considering a spring wedding, this post is for you.

We have a wealth of spring wedding ideas that can help you design your wedding theme and make the most of the season and the facilities. All of us are here to make your day as special as it can be, whatever the season.

Inside out

Spring brings warmth, sunshine and new life to the countryside. While it’s a great idea to feature the outdoors into any wedding plan, you will have to have some indoor elements too.

Spring weather is unpredictable at best, so make sure you have somewhere warm and dry for people to spend time. Also make sure your reception venue can rise to the challenge should the heavens open. Plan for the best and prepare for the worst, and your wedding day can survive anything.

Theming and design

Spring weddings offer fertile ground for wedding design. Think flowers, birds and nature, and you’re on the track to spring wedding wonderland. You could include fresh flowers as table centrepieces, include birds and butterflies in your wedding theme, or even include Easter if you wanted to.

Spring is the time of year for pastels. You could feature them in your dress, bridesmaids dresses or even the grooms side. You can use pastels in your table settings, room decorations, bouquets and anywhere you like. There is an amazing variety of themes and designs you can use this time of year.

It’s also worth talking to a florist about the amazing variety of flowers available during springtime. It’s a great time of year for roses, tulips, hyacinth, lilies and gerbera, daisies, calla lilies, peony, tweedia, sweet pea, anemone and many more. All would look fantastic in bouquets or as centrepieces.

The wedding dress

We will not touch on the dress itself here, as we have plenty of posts about those. Most wedding dress designs can be adapted to spring. A full dress can go short sleeve, or a shorter dress can use a stole or bolero jacket. It’s a flexible time, but also one you need to adequately plan for.

It might be cold; it might be wet; it might be very warm. You just don’t know. Choose the dress you fall in love with, but then consider the weather you might be wearing it in. Consider a wrap, shrug, spare sensible shoes or wellington boots to ensure you and your bridesmaids are warm and comfortable throughout the day

The date

Springtime is a busy time for weddings so choose your date carefully and book early. There are a lot of Bank Holidays during this time of year and Easter is right in the middle. Chosen carefully, you could enjoy a long weekend of wedding celebrations without the need to take time off work.

You could also ask your church if you can use their Easter decorations as a wedding backdrop, or use the flowers afterwards. You can feature Easter in your theming too.

Just be aware that not all churches will be available around Easter and that many families go on holiday at this time. If you’re planning to get married in the spring you’re going to have to let everyone know as early as possible.

There are many good reasons why the Spring is a popular time for weddings. Not only does it include all of the things we have talked about here, it’s also a positive time, a time for hope, for renewal and for optimism for the year to come. All things your wedding embodies and all things we wish for you on your wedding day!
